Kung Fu Forms

We have a class that focuses on teaching the Kung Fu forms (Kuens), stances, and exercises that are part of the Kajukenbo Kung Fu curriculum. It's a mixture of Northern and Southern Kung Fu forms, focusing on the Shaolin and Hung Gar lineages. If you are interested an intensive, traditional Kung Fu experience, this class is ideal for you. The forms are also taught within the other classes as they are part of the requirements needed for rank.  

Boxing Fitness

 

Our Boxing Fitness class will help you get in shape, while having fun! It's bag work, exercises, stretches, and occasionally some yoga thrown in for good measure. A great way to reduce daily frustration and stress. Unlike other classes that have you go through the motions, we will teach you how to punch, work your feet, stretch, and exercise properly while working up a sweat. 

 

TKFMMA is located in SW Durham, at the corner of Garrett and 15-501.  We believe that quality training requires a quality environment, and we have sparred no expense in creating a top-of-the-line training facility.

 

Our primary training space features ~1400 square feet of premium 2" Zebra mats, a half cage, and padded walls.

 

We also have a secondary back mat for private lessons and smaller classes, as well as a full weight and fitness area.

 

We additionally have a large paved area behind the gym, useful for forms training in the summer, and our summer BBQs.

Boxing

Boxing is one of the worlds oldest combat sports. It is incorporated into all the striking classes. It's also a great way to get in shape, stay fit, and relieve stress. Workouts aren't easy but good things seldom are. We believe in aiming high and don't see any point to training amateurs. People are encouraged to attend the Boxing Fitness class to get more of a workout. We have a unique style of training that focuses more on mastering the individual elements of a fight in order to maximize the performance in the actual fight. 

 

 

MMA

MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts. There were mixed martial arts well before there was a formalized sport. Made popular in the 1990's, the sport of MMA is the focus of this class. MMA is a full-contact sport that combines various forms of striking and grappling. It's also a great way to get in shape, stay fit, and relieve stress. Workouts aren't easy but good things seldom are. We believe in aiming high and don't see any point to training amateurs. People are encouraged to attend all of the classes. Everything is connected and sometimes all you need is a different perspective on the same technique to truly understand it and have a edge over your opponent. We have a unique style of training that focuses more on mastering the individual elements of a fight in order to maximize the performance in the actual fight.   

 

Kickboxing Fitness

Our kickboxing fitness classes will help you get in shape, while having fun! It's bag work, exercises, stretches, and some yoga thrown in for good measure. A great way to reduce daily frustration and stress. Unlike other classes that have you go through the motions, we will teach you how to punch, kick, stretch, and exercise properly while working up a sweat. It's basically a kickboxing class without the sparring and lots of sweat and fun!
