Why choose Tactical Kung Fu and Mixed Martial Arts over any number of other martial arts schools in the Chapel Hill area? There are three reasons students continually cite as they have chosen to join and stay with us.
1) Breadth of material.
Nowhere else can you study the wide range of material that is offered at Tactical Kung Fu and Mixed Martial Arts under one roof. In addition to kung fu, you are exposed to the other core arts of Kajukenbo, including Karate, Tang Soo Do, judo, jujitsu, kenpo, and boxing. Additionally, we teach submission wrestling and escrima at our school. In one unified curriculum, you can learn striking (punching, kicking, kneeing, elbowing, etc), throws, takedowns, submissions, forms and stick and knife fighting.
In addition to our Wu Hun Dao/Kajukenbo classes, we also offer dedicated BJJ and submission grappling classes, tai chi instruction, and wrestling and judo instruction.
2) Proven self-defense that works.
Kajukenbo was developed in the slums of Hawaii in the 1940s, and severy technique incorporated into the art has been tested against fully resisting opponents. This tradition continues to this day, and every technique taught at Tactical Kung Fu and Mixed Martial Arts has been tested by someone in either a full contact MMA match, or in a real combat or self-defense situation. If it doesn't work, we don't teach it.
3) High quality instruction that focuses on you, the student.
At Tactical Kung Fu and MMA, we pride ourselves on quality instruction. The head instructor has a proven track record of quality teaching, both in martial arts and in academia and he passes this expertise on to his entire teaching staff. Every class is taught by a qualified instructor, who has received dedication training in the art of teaching martial arts. Additionally, instructors at our program routinely spar with the students, ensuring that you have the opportunity to train one-on-one with a highly skilled martial artist on a regular basis.
