The main art within the MMA Yoseikan class is Yoseikan Budo. Yoseikan Budo is a Japanese martial art that combines many elements and techniques found in arts like Judo, Aikido, Karate, boxing, Savate, and various Japanese arts. Taught by Franckie Wyrobnik, he blends in Muy Tai, French Kickboxing, and Russian Systema to make Yoseikan fighters more rounded for competitions. Yoseikan Budo has been around since the 1930's and is popular throughout the world. More information can be found on its Wikipedia page.
TKFMMA is located in SW Durham, at the corner of Garrett and 15-501. We believe that quality training requires a quality environment, and we have sparred no expense in creating a top-of-the-line training facility.
Our primary training space features ~1400 square feet of premium 2" Zebra mats, a half cage, and padded walls.
We also have a secondary back mat for private lessons and smaller classes, as well as a full weight and fitness area.
We additionally have a large paved area behind the gym, useful for forms training in the summer, and our summer BBQs.
The Filipino stick and knife fighting program at TKFMMA teaches a wide variety of techniques and drills found in Counterpoint Tactical System (CTS), Filipino Combat Systems (FCS), Doce Pares, Balintawak Escrima, and Pekiti Tirsia Kali.
Our cardio kickboxing classes will help you get in shape, while having fun! It's bag work, exercises, stretches, and some yoga thrown in for good measure. A great way to reduce daily frustration and stress. Unlike other classes that have you go through the motions, we will teach you how to punch, kick, stretch, and exercise properly while working up a sweat. Lots of sweat!
Association For Renaissance Martial Arts
We currently host an ARMA class that focuses on unarmed and knife combat. ARMA stands for the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts. This class is a study group for those interested in the Martial Arts of Renaissance Europe. Our main focus is the combat wrestling and dagger techniques of Fiore dei Liberi, but we also draw on other sources such as Joachim Meyer, Fabian von Auerswald, and the Goliath fechtbuchs. A great opportunity for those interested in historical combat. No previous experience or knowledge necessary. The homepage for ARMA is www.theARMA.org.
